I’m not sure when it will happen. But some time this year, Rudy Giuliani will begin to drop in the polls and Mitt Romney will close the gap. Perhaps it will come as the public decides it is time to educate themselves on the candidates. Perhaps it will come as the opponents of Mitt Romney quickly run out of arrows to shoot at him -as their attacks become old news, and they turn their attention to Giuliani, the GOP frontrunner.

Even though Rudy Giuliani has been gaining recently in the polls, there are reports that he is vulnerable. There’s a great report out today in the Wall Street Journal that is a prime example. The findings are from a WSJ/NBC News telephone poll.

Fully three of four Republicans — including a majority of those backing the former New York City mayor — say they would have reservations if they learned Mr. Giuliani supports abortion rights and supports civil unions for gay and lesbian couples.
