Rudy Giuliani easily beat the field with 60 votes, followed by Newt Gingrich with a distant 35 votes, and Mitt Romney with 23 votes. John McCain came in fourth with 19 votes. Tom Tancredo placed fifth with 10 votes. Mike Huckabee placed last with 8 votes.
Mitt Romney has received endorsements from Oregon GOP party chair Vance Day and also from former gubernatorial candidate Kevin Mannix.
Giuliani’s relatively liberal leanings on social issues are likely to play well in Oregon and the West, delegates said, where many Republicans have a strong libertarian streak and shy away from government regulation of individual behavior. –Giuliani top pick at Dorchester Convention, March 5, 2007
