Spartanburg County, South Carolina Straw Poll Results

Correction: We mistakenly referenced this straw poll as the CPAC straw poll. The CPAC straw poll is held in Washington, D.C. The Spartanburg County straw poll was held on the same day that the three-day CPAC straw poll began.
Mitt Romney has been in Spartanburg, South Carolina participating in the Spartanburg County straw poll.
With 81 of 92 precincts reporting, Giuliani led all 11 candidates with 158 votes.
California Rep. Duncan Hunter was running in a close second place with 152 votes.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was third with 116 votes.
Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback had 83 votes
Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney had 80 votes.
Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee rounded out the front-runners with 21 votes.
Romney’s campaign said they were pleased with the former governor’s finish.
“I think we outperformed where we’ve been, where all the public polls that had us at 5 and 6 percent,” spokesman Terry Sullivan said. –Giuliani leads in Spartanburg County straw poll, March 1, 2007
There was a smaller than expected turnout of less than 2,000 possibly due to the weather. Vote counting will continue Friday, March 2, 2007
