Television advertising already? Today in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Michigan, and Florida, Mitt Romney will begin running both a 60 second television ad and a 30 second television ad.

Fellow Republican 2008 presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter aired the very first television ad of either major political party last week with spots that ran in South Carolina, North Carolina, and North Dakota.

Romney is running the ads early to gain name recognition and close in on the lead that John McCain and Rudy Giuliani have on him in the polls.

Up to this point, Mitt Romney has been heavily focused on the “behind the scenes” part of his game building his team in various states and gaining political endorsements. At some point he must focus on getting to the public and that’s what he hopes for this bit of advertising.
